About the Founder
Daniel-José Cyan (he/him preferred) is a plethora of things: a multi-disciplinary artist (more information on his art below), a multi-faith MDiv graduate student with a passion and drive to chaplain to queer and trans folks with religious trauma, and a community organizer.
Daniel-José has built his life’s work on making spaces and sharing stories of his communities. Living in the margins, he’s learned how valuable community care is. That love for his community has led him to facilitate groups (he currently facilitates a trans support group— more info below), use his art to highlight trans stories, and go to school for social work training as well as spiritual care.
QT was first seeded with one event idea that led Daniel-José with the spark to continue fostering sober and sober-friendly spaces for his communities.
Daniel-José refuses to be boxed in to one form of art. Links to his work will be listed. Please note that his other IG accounts are under construction at the moment. Amongst the things he does, he is a photographer, filmmaker (Bachelors of Film from Hunter College), graphic designer, poet, performance artist, singer/musician, and is exploring ways to better his passion for fashion and makeup.
Daniel-José has social work training (though has not completed his graduate level schooling for social work), and spiritual care training. An expected graduation date of 2028, he hopes to use his MDiv to follow his calling to minister and support other trans and queer folks who carry religious and spiritual trauma. He feels called to witness those who are systemically silenced. Though Daniel-José was raised in Christianity, he feels connected to many faith traditions and is currently learning how to ethically balance the many faith traditions that have impacted him in his life. Daniel-José currently facilitates a trans support group at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center ever second and fourth Friday of the month from 5:30-7:00pm.
